Intern Spotlight: Jazmine Anderson

We hope everyone has had a great week so far! Our next Intern Spotlight is on Jazmine Anderson, a native of Chalice, Idaho. She’s currently a Junior at George Fox University majoring in English and minoring in Educational Ministry, and is interning for Northside Youth at Northside Community Church. We’ve asked Jazmine a couple of questions to learn more about how her internship is going so far!

Q: How did you first learn of The Leadership Center?
A: I first heard of The Leadership Center from an announcement that Trisha made two years ago in one of my ministry classes, but it wasn’t until hearing the same announcement last year did I actually felt led to apply.
Q: What has been one highlight of your internship so far?
A: It’s helped me learn a lot about myself, what I want to do after college, and how I want to approach ministry.

Q: What has been one difficulty?
A: Figuring out a way to bridge the gap between Newberg Young Life (of which I am one of the leaders) and Northside Youth. What would it look like if we were to connect the two? Should we hold Young Life events at Northside? Should we invite Northside Youth to Young Life events? There are so many options, but to choose what would work the best has been difficult.

Q: What is your dream job after graduation?
A: I don’t really have a dream job, but teaching has come into my radar. When I first chose my major, I was totally against teaching, but I’ve definitely warmed up to the idea.

Q: How did going through orientation and theo-praxis help?
A: I’m an intellect, so I love thinking about things. Going through the resources has given me an outlet to think about things, but apply my thoughts in a more practical way.

Q: How has being mentored impacted you?
A: I really like being mentored. It’s been helpful having Trisha and Racheal support me through this process.

Q: What has God been teaching you during this internship?
A: He’s been showing me that how I lead might be different than how someone else leads, and to be ok with that. It’s kind of been a battle for me and an ongoing process of becoming more comfortable with who I am.

Q: What will your Legacy Project be?
A: To figure out a more concrete plan to bridge Young Life and Northside, which I am still trying to decide how to do.

Please be praying for Jazmine this summer as she serves the youth of Newberg!
