About TLC

The Leadership Center exists to be a network that empowers outstanding students by connecting them with healthy ministries to generate successful experiences, ultimately molding future leaders to fulfill the great commission in the church, the community and the marketplace.

Over the next three years our vision is to develop the Oregon Leadership Center with local colleges and universities  as a sustainable leadership equipping center. We will provide scholarships, training, mentoring, and internships to grow the ministries and leaders of Oregon.

Trisha Welstad, Director, The Leadership Center

Trisha is passionate about investing in young people to see them become all God has created them to be. Growing up in Salem, Oregon, Trisha was called to ministry while in high school. She was invested in by mentors and youth pastors who gave her the opportunity to explore practical ministry as an intern while in college. After finishing a degree in Youth Ministry and Biblical Studies from Corban University, Trisha moved to Los Angeles to attend graduate school at Azusa Pacific University. She received a Masters of Divinity from the seminary and was ordained as an elder in the Free Methodist Church in 2006. While in Southern California, Trisha served as a pastor within the local college community of Azusa, the Pastor of Youth and Spiritual Development at Marina Christian Fellowship in Los Angeles, and as Co-Pastor to Rose City Church in Pasadena.

Trisha and her husband Troy sensed God leading them back to Oregon in 2010 to begin a discipling community in Portland. During this time Trisha knew part of God’s call was to encourage growth in the leadership of the church in Oregon. As she transitioned to the Northwest she connected with the Oregon Free Methodist Church. Forming a partnership with colleges in the area, they worked together to develop the Leadership Center: a network empowering new leaders and growing ministries through internships, mentoring and scholarship.
